Zoning Administrator's Duties & Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Township Zoning Administrator shall be to:

  • Administer and enforce the Zoning Ordinance.
  • Accepts and review zoning permit applications; and determine completeness of the application and/or compliance with the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance.
  • Perform inspections of parcels to ensure proper land use.
  • Report to the Township Board, Planning Commission, and Zoning Board of Appeals
  • Investigate alleged violations of the Zoning Ordinance.
  • Develop recommendations regarding zoning amendments, zoning permits, fee structures, and zoning forms.
  • Assist the general public, applicants, developers and their representatives, with zoning-related inquiries.

The Township Zoning Administrator is not a voting member of the planning commission. While the Zoning Administrator shall attend meetings, their primary role is administrative support to the planning commission; providing information and expertise about the Township Zoning Ordinance, pending applications and/or other matters relevant to the Township Planning Commission.
